Chair and desk on a carpet

Love and Loss Therapy can help children, teenagers and adults process their pain, turn to love and see how loss can be a powerful catalyst for change and opportunity for growth.

Hi! I’m Amanda, clinical social worker and founder of Love and Loss Therapy. I’ve been helping people in challenging and unpredictable situations for almost 20 years. Working in domestic violence and child welfare taught me the impact of trauma, abuse, addiction, systemic oppression, and the resilience found in everyone. Being surrounded by love and loss my whole life has made a profound impact on who I choose to be and how I can help others. I turned off my feelings for years, living on autopilot and responding to crises. As much as I hated to admit it, learning to stay present and feel my feelings was painfully uncomfortable but helped tremendously. What ultimately gave me peace was understanding pain can’t be eliminated and helped bring positive change in my life.

Every person’s story is unique, and there’s no one way to experience loss or heal. Once understanding your needs, I help set goals, build strengths and help create healthy coping strategies. I use a range of modalities tailoring my work with every person based on their needs and what works best for them. The ultimate goal is not to eliminate pain but rather learn from it as it a powerful catalyst for positive change and an opportunity for growth.
